You’re successful on the outside.
But inside, something isn’t working.
You’ve built an impressive career. You’re smart, capable, and people rely on you. But behind the competence, you’re running on fumes.
Your mind races through work problems at 2am. Weekends feel like recovery, not living. You’ve optimized everything in your life except how you actually feel.
Anything less than exceptional feels like failure. You know it’s irrational, but knowing doesn’t change the feeling. The inner critic is relentless.
Despite your track record, you’re waiting to be found out. Every success feels like luck. Every mistake confirms your deepest fear — that you’re not enough.
You’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, maybe even tried therapy before. You understand the problem intellectually, but understanding hasn’t changed anything.
You need more than insight. You need something that works at a deeper level.
Therapy that works the way your mind works
If you’re analytical and high-achieving, you need therapy that respects your intelligence while getting underneath the patterns that keep you stuck.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy
IFS is the foundation of my work. It maps the different parts of your inner world — the perfectionist, the critic, the part that shuts down. Rather than fighting these parts, we learn what isn’t working and how to adopt new strategies. Clients who think deeply and like frameworks connect with IFS immediately. It gives you a working model of your own mind.
Brainspotting
Some patterns live in your nervous system, not your thinking mind. Brainspotting is a focused, body-based approach that helps process what talk therapy alone can’t reach — the tension you carry, the reactivity that surprises you, the emotions that feel stuck. When knowing what the problem is hasn’t changed how it feels, this is often the breakthrough.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR helps your brain reprocess difficult memories so they stop running your present-day reactions. It’s well-researched and especially effective for trauma, anxiety, and deep-seated beliefs — like “I’m not good enough” — that logic alone can’t touch.
Who I work especially well with
I specialize in working with high-achieving professionals who look like they have it together — and are exhausted by the effort.
Many of my Washington clients work in tech, engineering, healthcare, law, or other demanding fields. They’re used to solving problems and performing at a high level. But the strategies that built their careers — pushing harder, thinking more, controlling outcomes — have become the very things keeping them stuck.
Common reasons clients reach out:
- Burnout and chronic work stress that rest alone doesn’t fix
- Perfectionism that drives achievement but erodes well-being
- High-functioning anxiety — performing well while internally struggling
- Imposter syndrome and relentless self-criticism
- Difficulty in relationships despite being competent in every other area
- A sense of disconnection — from yourself, your partner, or your life
About Dr. Jess Vechakul
Before I became a therapist, I was an engineering consultant with a PhD. I spent years in high-pressure, analytical environments — the same kinds of workplaces many of my clients navigate daily. I know what it’s like to be valued for your output, to mask struggle behind competence, and to feel like slowing down means falling behind.
That lived experience shapes how I practice. I don’t need you to explain your work culture or justify why you’re stressed. I already understand. We can skip the basics and go straight to the work that matters.
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with advanced training in IFS, Brainspotting, and EMDR. As an Asian American clinician, I bring cultural attunement that’s particularly meaningful for clients throughout Washington’s diverse professional communities.
My approach is warm, direct, and structured. I believe therapy should be as efficient and rigorous as you are — without sacrificing depth or compassion.
